Scholark is an independent, student-built, non-commercial educational project. It is not an incorporated company, business, or employer, and it is not revenue-generating. It does not sell paid access, subscriptions, advertising, or professional services. The project exists to provide free educational planning and academic-support tools for students.
1. Information you provide
When you create an account, Scholark may process information such as your name, email address, authentication identifier, and information you choose to save in your account. Depending on the tool, that can include saved calculations, planning items, application-tracking information, goals, notes, or drafts you intentionally save.
2. Information stored on your device
Scholark uses browser storage for things such as preferences, recently used tools, progress state, and your cookie-consent choice. Necessary browser storage helps the site remember settings and keep core features working.
3. Service providers
Scholark uses third-party infrastructure to operate certain features. Google Firebase is used for authentication and cloud data features. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices.
4. Cookies and optional analytics
Necessary storage is used to run the site. Optional analytics storage is controlled through Scholark's cookie-preference controls and defaults to denied until you choose otherwise where supported.
Scholark does not use advertising cookies or advertising personalization, and advertising monetization is disabled for this non-commercial project.
5. How information is used
- Provide, save, and sync educational features you request.
- Authenticate accounts and protect access to saved information.
- Maintain site reliability, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot errors.
- Send optional emails you have signed up to receive, with unsubscribe options where applicable.
- Improve Scholark's educational tools and user experience.
6. Selling personal information
Scholark does not sell personal information. It is not a data broker and does not operate as a commercial data business.
7. Security
Scholark uses HTTPS in production, account authentication, access-control rules for cloud data, and repository secret-scanning intended to keep private credentials out of browser code. No online system can guarantee perfect security, so avoid placing highly sensitive information in educational planning fields. See Security & Data Safety for more detail.
8. Young users
Scholark is designed for students, including high-school students. It does not ask users to submit sensitive identity documents through the planning tools. If your local law requires a parent or guardian's permission for online services, use Scholark with that permission.
9. Your choices
You can choose what information to save, change analytics preferences, unsubscribe from optional emails, and use account controls made available in Scholark. If you want help with data associated with an account, use the contact method provided on the main site.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as Scholark changes. The effective date at the top will be updated when material changes are published.
